Andrea Green holds a BA and MA in English and theater and a doctorate in higher education administration. She is a tenured English professor at Union College in New Jersey. She has consulted at major U.S. corporations and lectured and written extensively in the field of women's studies. Her lectures on the topic of women and culture have been cited in Who's Who and Where in Women's Studies. In 1997 Dr. Green was honored with an Excellence in Higher Education Award from the New Jersey Commission on the Status of Women. In addition to publishing short stories, poems and essays in literary and academic journals, Green has written five plays. With No Apologies was produced at the Village Gate One-Act Play Festival in Manhattan in 1994. For Tiger Lilies Out of Season won the Critics' Choice Award at the Love Creek Productions Festival in 1997 and was published by Samuel French in 1998. The inspiration for Like Bees to Honey came from a close friend's struggle with alcoholism from addiction to recovery. Like Bees to Honey has been produced widely in theaters across the country, including Luna Stage Company in Montclair, New Jersey, the Sande Shurin Theater in New York City and the Heller Theatre, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her new play, Firebird, was recently produced in playhouses in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
