Carl Ritchie is originally from New Brunswick, Canada. He attended high school in the Himalayas before graduating from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He has acted, written and directed for theatres from Rangoon to Winnipeg. His comedy Family Values ran for four months off-Broadway. The New York Times raved, "Carl Ritchie is a promising playwright who knows how to construct a comedy!" and Regis Philbin called it, "A laugh riot!" His one-woman musicals, Nine Months and Nine Months Two (music by Stephen Woodjetts) have been performed in dozens of regional and summer stock theatres. He did a polish on the screenplay The Ladies Room, starring John Malkovich. With Elise Dewsberry he has written Anybody Home?, Connected and The Muffin Club. His backstage musical comedy Bye Bye Broadway (music by Ben Moore) premiered at the Drayton Festival Theatre. Ritchie has had numerous one acts, including Stoop and Ladder, produced in New York City.
