Carol Lander's passion for music began in childhood when she started piano lessons at age 6 and led her to church musicianship at the early age of 13, when she also started flute lessons. She went on to study music at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. In her profession, she has been church music director, elementary school music teacher, choir accompanist and a private lesson teacher. She has performed sacred music in the United States and Europe in such places as St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Currently, she still teaches privately and performs at various venues around the greater Cincinnati area. Lander's greatest musical love is the composition of instrumental and vocal arrangements. Over the years, she has arranged many vocal compositions for her choirs. In 2007, she recorded a solo piano music CD entitled Birth of the Son, and in 2009 she became a published composer of piano solos (Imagine Music Publishing). Lander's latest publication is a musical, Flyers (Dramatic Publishing), co-written with her sister Julia Lander. Having grown up in Dayton, Ohio, both sisters are fascinated with the Wright Brothers' story and proud of the Daytonian inventors' contribution to humankind. Outside of the musical realm, Lander enjoys reading, gardening, biking and hiking (she is a high pointer, who is someone who hikes to the highest point of each of the 50 states), snowboarding, wine making and soap making. She is a mother of two and lives in her restored 19th-century home in Covington, Ky.
