Elizabeth Dewberry's Flesh and Blood was commissioned by and premiered at Actors Theatre of Louisville's 1996 Humana Festival of New American Plays. It is her first full-length play. Her first short play, Head On, was commissioned by and premiered at the 1995 Humana Festival of New American Plays. Dewberry is the author of three novels: Many Things Have Happened Since He Died, Break the Heart of Me (both originally published under the name Elizabeth Dewberry Vaughn) and Sarah Finch's Wild Ride. She holds a Ph.D. in 20th-century American literature from Emory University, Atlanta, Ga., and a bachelor's degree in English from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. Dewberry lives in Louisiana with her husband, author Robert Olen Butler.
