Heather McCutchen has been a member of New Dramatists, New York, since 1991. Her plays have been seen in New York, London, Australia, San Francisco, Dallas, Austin, Chicago and Atlanta. A graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Iowa Playwrights Workshop, her play 3 a.m. received the University of Iowa's Best Play Award in 1989. McCutchen has been playwright-in-residence at New York's HOME for Contemporary Theatre and Art, where her A Walk on Lake Erie premiered in 1991. Alabama Rain was awarded a grant from the Fund for New American PlaysÑa project of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with support from American Express in cooperation with the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. Her script Baby Showers is a sequel to Alabama Rain.
