James Bosley is a core member of MCC (Manhattan Class Company) Theater in New York City. In addition to Fun, MCC has presented his plays Code 34, a One-Act Pineapple; Cooties; and in collaboration with Fay Simpson, the critically acclaimed dance-drama, D Train. Other produced works include Raging Women and The Marital Bliss of Francis and Maxine (both with Fay Simpson Dance Theater); Somebody! (The American Line); The Powers That Be (Red Earth Ensemble); and Rumor of Glory (Qwirk Productions). Qwirk also commissioned his play Epic Poetry, three scenes of which will be published in volumes of The Best Scenes of 1997. Bosley's screenwriting includes the film version of Fun, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival; his screenplay of Fun was nominated for an Independent Film Project Spirit Award. His other screen projects include Two-Bit Tango and 24 Hour Woman (both for director Nancy Savoca). He teaches playwriting to students in New York City public schools and is the founder and producer of The Summer Play Party at MCC. The Summer Play Party offers public-high-school playwrights a chance to work with professional actors and directors toward presenting their plays before an off-Broadway audience.
