Jeff Talbott’s play The Submission was the inaugural recipient of the Laurents/Hatcher Award and was produced off-Broadway by MCC Theater; it went on to receive the Outer Critics Circle John Gassner Award for New American Plays. His play The Gravedigger’s Lullaby received its world premiere off-Broadway produced by TACT. Other plays include: i (world premiere at Pioneer Theatre Company, 2017 Play Penn Finalist), Civics and Humanities for Non-Majors (commissioned and premiered by Montclair State University), Three Rules for the Dragon (2017 O’Neill Finalist; workshopped at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Colt Coeur and Premiere Stages), A Public Education (2015 O’Neill finalist; workshopped at Pioneer Theatre Company and TACT), How to Build a City (workshopped at TACT and Route 66 Theatre), Elliot (staged readings at Crowded Outlet and MCC Theater) and All the Stars in the Midnight Sky (workshopped/read at MCC Theater and TACT). He writes musicals with composer Will Van Dyke: Imagine Harry (2015 NAMT Festival of New Musicals, 2017 O’Neill Finalist), Wintersong (2016 Goodspeed Johnny Mercer Colony, 2017 NAMT finalist), Seven Broken Hearts (2017 Rhinebeck Writers Retreat) and The Circle (commissioned by Grove Entertainment with Barbara Whitman Productions). They have released an EP (A View of the River) and a single (“A New Year” featuring Annaleigh Ashford). Talbott graduated with honors from the Yale School of Drama.
