Joan LeGro Bushnell

Joan LeGro Bushnell is a freelance writer, playwright, songwriter and author whose work has been performed at ScotlandÕs acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as in other parts of the world. Her early professional experience ranges from nightclub vocalist to radio talk show host. She has a background in journalism, public relations and theatre as playwright, actor, director and, as adjunct faculty, has taught theatre—grades K-3 through postgraduate. She has directed numerous productions for Squirrel Cage Theatre, North Fork, Calif.; Golden Chain Theatre, Oakhurst, Calif.; California State University, Fresno; Fallon House Theatre, Columbia College, Sonora, Calif.; and the Fine Arts Society and Theatre Arts Club, both in Detroit. With her late husband, George H. Bushnell, she has coauthored a musical trade show, Three Cheers for the Yonder, Wild & Blue (Or, Would a Tail-dragger Pilot Lie to You?) for the International Cessna 170 Association and a cookbook, Hunters' Game Recipes. Having recently completed a book, Sophie on Demand: How to Handle My Parents and Other Humans, by Sophie Bushnell as told to Joan LeGro Bushnell and illustrated by Jack Petz, Joan and her miniature dachshund, Sophie, divide their time between CaliforniaÕs southern Sierra Nevada, the Great Lakes of southeastern Michigan, and Ontario, Canada.
