John Wooten's playwriting credits include Trophies (off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane and various regional theatres); Kiss the Bride (The Forum Theatre and winner of a 1995 New Jersey Arts Council Fellowship and Governor's Citation); The Role of Della (produced at more than 30 regional theatres and optioned for film); and Uncivil War (TheatreFest, Theatre at Lime Kiln). He is a member of The Dramatists Guild, Actors Equity Association, and Who's Who in Entertainment. His work is also published in texts, including Plays for Actresses, The Best Men's Monologues of 1994, Playing Scenes, Playing Contemporary Scenes and by Dramatists Play Service. Wooten is the artistic director of TheatreFest, where he created and developed the TheatreFest National Playwriting Contest. He is an evaluator for the Playwriting Teaching Artist Residency Plan sponsored by the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. He was commissioned by The Forum Theatre to write The Mission Home, about the World War II heroine, Hannah Senesh. The play was produced in London at the King's Head Theatre after an extended run at The Forum. Wooten is a native of Las Cruces, N.M.
