Julianne Bernstein is a two-time winner of the Off-Off-Broadway Original Short Play Festival in New York. Her winning plays, Autumn Leaves and Pizza: A Love Story, appear in Off-Off-Broadway Festival Plays:16th Series and 19th Series published by Samuel French, and To the Airport and Marla You're On appear in More One-Act Plays for Acting Students by Meriweather Publishing. She has written the libretto for a family musical based on the mysticism behind the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Aleph Bet Bop! was commissioned by the National Foundation for Jewish Culture and recently workshopped by Theatre Ariel. Bernstein's plays have been produced in New York, Washington, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Canada and at Actors Theater of Louisville, where her 10-minute play The Bridal Gown was produced. In 1993, she was a playwright-in-residence at the Mount Sequoyah New Play Retreat in Fayetteville, Ark., and she is the recipient of numerous awards. Bernstein holds an M.F.A. in Playwriting from Rutgers University. She resides in Philadelphia.
