Karen Schiff received a bachelor's degree in theatre arts from Northwestern University and a master's degree in organizational psychology from Columbia University. After working as a professional actress, she turned her attention to writing, first as a curriculum designer and now as a playwright. Her short play, Recoil has had several productions in New York and California. Breakfast With Willy, a one-act, was produced at the 2005 Pittsburgh New Works festival, where she was nominated for the festival's Outstanding Playwright award. Schiff's full-length play, The Sand Game, was selected for public readings in New York, Chicago, Palm Springs and San Francisco. She currently lives in Oak Park, Illinois, with her husband, Chris.
