Mark Rosenwinkel is a Core Member of the Playwrights' Center of Minneapolis and a past recipient of their Jerome Fellowship in playwriting. His plays have had productions, readings and workshops with numerous theaters around the country. His most recent play, Sanctus, was named winner of the 2002 Writers' Digest Literary Award in the Play Script category.
Originally commissioned by Idaho Theatre for Youth, this particular adaptation of Moby Dick was chosen as the North American representative to the 1996 International Assn. of Theatre for Young Audiences (ASSITEJ) World Congress in Rostov, Russia. Additionally, he has written numerous other works for young audiences, most notably Jairus and the Wonder Shop, a modern fantasy commissioned by Stages Theatre in Hopkins, MN.
In addition to playwriting, Mr. Rosenwinkel has acted professionally in the theatre for nearly two decades, including work with the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. He has extensive experience as a teacher of acting, improvisation and playwriting, and holds an MFA in acting from the Asolo Conservatory in Sarasota, FL.
