Marsha Lee Sheiness' plays have been produced on television, off-Broadway, off-off Broadway and in regional, community and university theatres across the United States, Japan, Canada and England. As a playwright-in-residence at New York City's Playwrights Horizons she participated in 11 productions of her work. Professor George and The Spelling Bee were first presented by the Eugene O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. Monkey, Monkey Bottle of Beer, How Many Monkeys Have We Here?, produced by PBS Channel 13/WNET and aired on "Theater in America," is now available on DVD. Great Expectations (music and lyrics by Robert Bendorff) was a 1997 finalist for the Richard Rodgers Award and the Festival of Contemporary Musical Theatre. Sheiness received the National Endowment for the Arts as well as other awards and prizes. She is a member of The Dramatists Guild, Actors Equity, WGE (Writers Guild East), PEN, and BMI Librettist Workshop.
