Michael Ragozzino is a professional polymath, dreamer and realist with a list of ideals, but is no idealist. His comedic, socially conscious plays often take aim at the foundations of what he calls “our modern military-industrial-pharmaceutical-patriarchal-fructosian dystopia.” A graduate of Harvard, Ragozzino studied under Bob Brustein and Adrienne Kennedy (the most wonderful mentor at the exact right moment) and hopes to win many awards for his writing—if for no other reason than to thank Jeremy Funke, a director who just always seems to get it. Ragozzino now lives in Phoenixville, Penn., teaches a course in “how to be human” at nearby Ursinus College and absolutely loves the heck out of his 5-year-old son, Nate. Writing comedy is the only way he has found to cope with the absurdity of life in contemporary America. By turns mysterious and relatable with a tincture of nuttiness, Ragozzino enjoys being described as if by a sommelier.
