Regina Taylor is a multidisciplinary artist,
educator and activist. Her acclaimed plays include Crowns (four Helen
Hayes Awards), Oo-Bla-Dee (Steinberg/ATCA Award), Drowning Crow
(produced on Broadway by Manhattan Theatre Club), The Trinity River Plays
(Edgerton Foundation New Play Award), stop.reset. (developed through
Signature Theatre’s Residency 5 program) and Bread (Edgerton Foundation
New Play Award). She is also an artistic associate at the Goodman Theatre,
where she holds the distinction of being its most-produced playwright. Taylor’s
one-woman play, Exhibit, will have its world premiere at Curious Theatre
Company in Denver, where she will also star in the production. In addition to
her work as a playwright, Taylor received the Denzel Washington Endowed Chair
in Theatre at Fordham University at Lincoln Center. Her television credits
include HBO’s Lovecraft Country and Strange Justice (Gracie
Award); Netflix’s All Day and a Night; NBC’s Council of Dads;
CBS’s The Red Line, The Good Fight, The Unit and Children
of the Dust (also known as A Good Day to Die); and Masterpiece
Theatre’s Cora Unashamed, in which she became the first Black lead in
the series. Additional television appearances include Dig (USA Network)
as well as guest roles in Elementary (CBS) and The Blacklist (Netflix).
Her film credits include Saturday Church, The Negotiator, Courage
Under Fire, Clockers and Lean on Me. Taylor’s on-screen
performances have earned her a Golden Globe Award, three NAACP Image Awards,
and nominations for two Emmy Awards. She also made history as the first Black
woman to play Juliet in Romeo and Juliet on Broadway.
