Rodolfo Ortega received his bachelor's degree in music from the University of Arizona and his Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music, where he studied piano and composition. He has composed several musicals for Northwest Children's Theater including Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, Pinocchio, El Zorrito and Peter Pan. Ortega has also composed the scores for Oregon Children's Theatre's productions of Charlotte's Web, Tuck Everlasting, BFG, Holes and Cyrano. He has also composed many of the productions at Shakespeare Santa Cruz, where he is the associate artist in composition, including their recent productions of Othello, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Wind in the Willows, The Man in the Iron Mask and Henry V. Additionally, he has composed the music for Denver Center Theatre Company's productions of The Three Musketeers and Romeo and Juliet. He has additionally composed the music for Oregon Shakespeare Festival's recent production of The Tenth Muse.
