Steven Epp was an actor, writer, director and co-artistic director at Theatre de la Jeune Lune, winner of the 2005 Tony award for Best Regional Theatre, from 1983-2008. In his 25 years with Jeune Lune, Epp collaborated in the creation and performance of more than 50 productions. He adapted and directed Michel de Ghelderode's Christopher Columbus and Euripides' Medea. He co-authored Children of Paradise, winner of the 1993 Outer Critics Circle award for best new play. He also wrote, co-wrote and/or adapted scripts for Crusoe and the Island of Hope, Don Juan Giovanni, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Feydeau's Honeymoon China, The Three Musketeers, The Pursuit of Happiness, Dashiell Hammett's Red Harvest, Queen, Mozart's The Magic Flute and Figaro, Maria de Buenos Aires, The Little Prince, Kafka's Amerika or the Disappearance, Boito's Mefistofele and Marivaux's The Deception. Most recently, Epp adapted Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale, Molière's A Doctor In Spite of Himself with Christopher Bayes for the Intiman Theater in Seattle, and is the author/performer of a new one-person play, The House Can't Stand.
