Susan Johnston is a six-time published playwright who completed her M.F.A. in dramatic writing at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where she received the Harry Kondoleon Playwriting Award. Her plays have been produced and/or read at El Portal Forum Theatre, Mill Mountain Theatre, City Lights Youth Theatre, The Jungle Theater, Centenary Stage Company, the O'Neill, The Peter Norton Space, the Lark, The Echo, MTS (Manhattan Theatre Source), NADA (Todo Con Nada), La MaMa, Provincetown Playhouse, Pine View Drama League, Port Authority Bus Terminal during rush hour and in the middle of Washington Square Park. She has received a MacDowell Colony residency, a Jerome Fellowship and was a Fulbright nominee. She has been the recipient of an NEA grant, a Minnesota State Arts Board Career Opportunity grant, a West Virginia State Arts grant and the Pilgrim Project grant. Johnston won LA Weekly's Theatre Award for Play_writing for How Cissy Grew. Her first novel, Party Favors (co-authored with Nicole Sexton), is on shelves now.
