Tom McCoy's diverse work experience includes college English teacher, stage director, telemarketer, freelance writer, farm hand, political press secretary, professional research assistant, and writer and/or producer of more than 50 television shows on KRMA-TV, Denver (PBS). He is a published poet, and his children's play, The Wish Peddler, is available from Dramatic Publishing Company. His children's book, The Clumsiest Witch, is available on Kindle from Amazon Publishing. He also worked for two years on a series produced in California for deaf children, Rainbows End (PBS). He directed the Children's Theatre Program at Perry- Mansfield Performing Arts School & Camp for four years and was the recipient of scholarship monies that enabled students to study with him and perform in the original plays he wrote for them. McCoy was a staff member of the Centers at the Graduate School of Public Affairs, University of Colorado at Denver, for 11 years, where, among other projects, he worked on affordable housing in Nicaragua; a three-day conference that brought 15 Israelis and 15 Palestinians to the Aspen Institute to discuss the topic: "Peace has broken out. What do we do now?" and a dozen conferences on energy, water and land-use issues in the West. He also worked as the director of the Sustainability Awards Program of the Wirth Chair in Environmental and Community Development Policy where Colorado media, business and community efforts that covered, fostered and incorporated sustainable strategies were honored. He retired in 2006 and, since then, has been a staff member of Pandas International, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit foundation whose exclusive focus is the preservation and propagation of the highly endangered giant panda. McCoy is married with two children and three grandchildren.
