Tracey Rush

A native of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Tracey Rush earned a B.S. in music education from Bob Jones University and an M.A. in music education from the University of Northern Iowa. Former composer-in-residence of the Dubuque Symphony, Rush has been commissioned by such orchestras as the Knoxville (Tennessee) Symphony. Her works have been performed by orchestras all over the country including the Pittsburgh Symphony. Her "Spirit of Freedom" was chosen to be performed by the Owensboro Symphony as the Grand March for Kentucky's Governor Patton's 1999 inauguration. An instructor of music at Northeast Iowa Community College and the University of Wisconsin- Platteville, Rush is principal violist with the Dubuque Symphony and chair of the Iowa Composers Forum. In addition to her private string studio, she conducts the Dubuque Community String Orchestra. Rush lives in Dubuque, Iowa, with her husband and two sons.
