This is an ideal auditorium program for the Thanksgiving holiday. It is a fast-moving, hard-hitting play which deals with Thanksgiving wholly on terms of what we really have to be thankful for—today! Through a series of short episodes—some serious, others delightfully funny—an attempt is made to get down to brass tacks: Just what should Thanksgiving Day mean to us? Is it just a day in which school is out and we stuff ourselves with turkey and all the trimmings, or is there more to it than that? Should we be thankful in the glorified soap opera sort of way—and go around saying, "Oh, goody, I don't have a broken leg!"—or does it go deeper? The bare stage of your school auditorium and a few chairs and tables are all you need in the way of scenery, for the punch of this play is in the lines—in what the author has to say. We've been searching a long time for a Thanksgiving play that gives the youngsters of today an opportunity to tell how they feel about Thanksgiving. This program is ideally suited to high or junior high, and will be welcomed by those teachers who are looking for something different for the usual auditorium program.
