Bench 18

Sammy is waiting at Bench 18 with a white carnation in his buttonhole, eager to propose to the girl he's corresponded with for over a year. A footsore policeman urges caution on Sammy. Marriage can be grim. A tramp eager to snooze on Bench 18 has to be bought off. The tramp's advice: Marriage? Phooey! The girl with the white corsage comes on, ready to meet Sammy. A weary mother of six advises caution. A prim little girl looking for her brat of a brother decides to stick around and watch Julia kiss her beau. A gentlemen of sorts tries to pick Julia up and she mistakes him for Sammy! Sammy in turn mistakes an overdressed blonde for Julie! At the climax, each person finds what he really is looking for—even the tramp who repossesses Bench 18 with a contented sigh.
