Delightful Doctor Dolittle, because of his special love for animals, becomes an animal doctor. The animals who love him are thrilled, and they teach the good doctor how to talk to animals. This extraordinary ability leads to the most exciting adventures. Each role is a sure success. Relying more on the imagination of the audience than on scenery, you make it possible for them to join the enchanting world that results from the unique communication between the many colorful "animals" and their wonderful friend.
Provided many small parts to give opportunities for children new to the stage. Very easy scenes with minimal scenery required.
This was an appealing play for children in a wide age span. It was easily adaptable to provide for individual needs.
This was a crowd-pleasing show with great flexibility in casting. It was nice to bring a classic back to young audiences.
Doctor Dolittle went over very well with our audiences. We cast adults in human roles, youth (ages 5-17) in all animal and human-child roles. We had sold-out crowds, and the kids involved had a great time.
Read all of the original books as this will help in the understanding of the play. The original works by Hugh Lofting are delightful and really helped the cast with developing their characters.
