Synopsis

This highly theatrical 45-minute script shows the devastating effect of the lack of popularity, the agonies caused by prejudice, the pangs of first love, the sudden awareness of growing old and of death, the complexity of family relationships and the terrors that often accompany leaving high school. Some of these dramatized moments are whimsical, even farcical; others are warmly touching; many are extremely powerful. All come from the Southwest High School Creative Writing Awards. Contribute to the opportunity for new playwrights to be heard by producing this work.

Customer Reviews

Gypsies is an outstanding piece that allows young actors to develop their skills while dealing with personal and social issues... [it] gave six actors a chance to shine, play multiple roles in one show, and deal with the pressure of line memorization!

Hints, Tips, and Tricks

We used six stools, six actors, and very few props. We kept the focus on the acting/pace/flow. Keep it real and honest.
