In this wild espionage spoof, the Russians are out to capture the English scientist, Sir Isaac Newton, who is about to invent a secret weapon—"gravity!" "The apples are in the tree tonight and you'll be up a tree if you miss the Fig Connection," mumbles a mysterious-looking character in a trench coat. It appears that Russian spies have infiltrated London in order to locate Newton's hidden laboratory. The action that follows is fast and furious as six Russian spies, Doc, a mysterious Mr. Big and the beautiful but deadly Sonya consider every conceivable plan to get hold of Newton's secret. A fast-moving play that deals with no moral dilemmas or social issues.
Performed on a small stage, the physical properties (Sonya's bush disguise), the chase scenes (with slapstick jumping over the couch), and the bumbling maneuvers of the confused Russian spies, kept the audiences chuckling. But when the apples dropped from the ceiling, knocking out Russia's head spy, the audiences just roared! Thank you so much for providing us with "The Fig Connection."
