Synopsis

The fun begins when teenager Vera decides to take revenge on her aunt's visitor, Frampton Nuttel. Seizing on the ordinary fact that a window has been left open, innocent-looking Vera spins a fantastic tale of tragedy and delusion. Frampton is so completely taken in that by the time the hostess appears, the quiet English afternoon is charged with an air of doom. Her commonplace remarks as she serves him tea fit so well into the pattern that the audience watches with mounting amusement as Frampton's terror increases dramatically right up to the engaging climax.

Customer Reviews

This show is wonderful, quick and fast. Push your students to take chances. The further we pushed, the more my actors came up with!

Jordan Bechtol, Carter High School, Dallas, Texas

This is Saki at his best, and this adaptation captures the mood and the spirit to a tee. The play works very well as a contrast piece or, perhaps, in an anthology presentation. This was an enjoyable experience for our audiences and our cast.

Hints, Tips, and Tricks

Definitely use a fog machine! ... Using a real dog in the scene is a nice touch, or the use of shadows of the hunter on the window in the last scene.
