A retelling of the Philomele story that passionately demonstrates the violence that stems from enforced silence. Philomele is raped and when she threatens to talk, the rapist cuts out her tongue. She then kills her rapist's son in an awful act of violence. A cycle of retribution begins which only ends when the gods transform Philomele into a nightingale.
