Seth is struggling to come to terms with the divorce of his parents, and his fears come to life in his dreams—from singing lunch ladies who serve him slop to mean girl bullies who cram him into a garbage can. Seth eventually finds a cure for his anxiety at a school bus stop where he meets Natalie, a girl his age, who has experienced his same fears and pains. The realization that his anxieties are shared by others sends him to his first day of middle school with a confident smile.
One of the few large cast one-act scripts that I have come across that deals with pertinent issues of life as a middle-schooler and, at the same time, entertains the audience.
Our audience loved the show! It was a delight to produce -- simplicity of sets, issues familiar to middle school students, and cleverly constructed dialogue make for a great mix. Kudos!
The show was adorable, and the kids loved performing it.
A fun script! Lots of opportunity for broad characters and nonsense stage business. I like that there's a serious thread through the comedy. The play is very doable as a class project.
The students loved the contemporary script and characters they could recognize. It tackes issues that are relevant to middle school students but also manages to keep a sense of humor.
Seth, grandma and teacher need to be fairly strong actors.
It's fun to cast guys as the singing lunch ladies!
It's fun to add a chorus of lunch ladies.
